Rick is a certified Biblical Counsellor through ABC, and serves as the Director of Biblical Counselling for True North Soul Care at West London Alliance Church.
Education & Certification
Rick has pursued a diversity of programs in education. He believes in the need to be always learning and growing, whether through formal or informal settings. Over the years, he has formally pursued a Diploma in biblical and theological studies, a BA in religion and ministry, and a MDiv with Grad Certificate in Biblical Care and Counselling. While informally, he has taken training through CCEF and IBCD in biblical counselling.
In addition, Rick has pursued certifications to increase his care and support through soul care. He is certified to provide coaching with SYMBIS for pre-marital assessment, and Grip-Birkman for leadership and spiritual gift assessment. He is completing certification with Precision Nutrition for nutrition coaching.
Experience & Role
He has cross-sector leadership experience with over a decade in Senior Retail Management, Account Management and Sales; and, an additional decade in Pastoral Ministry, Biblical Counselling & Non-Profit Leadership.
In his role as the Director of Biblical Counselling, Rick’s provides leadership over True North Soul Care, which is the biblical counselling ministry of WLA Church. His primary focus is on: a) Counselling- personal biblical counselling for individuals and couples, b) Supporting- leadership care and triage support for staff and ministry leaders, c) Developing- the development of a lay counselling team, and d) Equipping- training for the church on identified topics and soul care needs.
Rick is married to his best friend, Teresa. They have raised two children they love very much, and proud to be grandparents. Rick enjoys coffee shops with friends and family, good books and courses to keep him learning, and CrossFit to help keep physically healthy and connected to the community.
ABC exists to encourage, equip, and enlist people everywhere to live and counsel the Word, applying the Gospel to the whole experience of life.
The BCC exists to strengthen churches, para-church organizations, and educational institutions by promoting excellence and unity in biblical counselling as a means to accomplish compassionate outreach and effective discipleship.
